I don’t do new years resolutions, I find a theme.
It’s more orientation than correction. It always comes to me naturally at that time of year. As I live in Canada, November & December are the darkest time of the year. And usually the cold begins. Then I look inside of me to find my light & hope, so I can see the direction I want to aim.
It’s always exhilarating. It has to be, or else it would not be so meaningful to me, it would be pointless. But this year, it’s fun and cosy. Usually I find a word, a verb, an action. For 2017 it’s something!
This year I’m being more like merino wool. Warm and soft, I naturally am, but often I feel like I should not. I should be cold and effective. In 2017 I will let myself be comforting. And it goes very well with the wool characteristic: "Wool fibre can be bent 20,000 times without breaking and still have the power to recover and return to its natural shape." Or: "Wool acclimatizes to its surroundings." Integrity & resilience, that's a great aim!
More importantly (for me), wool has another quality: "Not known to cause allergy and does not promote the growth of bacteria, with microscopic scales, wool fibres can trap dust in the top layers until vacuumed away." That’s what I want, my core can keep being peaceful, I can dust away. Beautiful!
2017, wool year!
Do you have a theme fot this new year?
